The Rooster
A farmer decided his somewhat aged rooster needed some help so he went and bought a nice young one. After putting the young rooster in the chicken cage he went inside to make himself some supper.
The young and elder rooster met in front of the hencoop (the hens all retreated inside expecting a major fight). Being new to the place the young rooster was a little cautious but as youth generally goes, he was quite full of himself.
The elder rooster didn't want to get into a big fight so he offered to wager the honour of being King of the Roost on the outcome of a foot race. Three laps around the entire chicken cage and the winner gets to be King of the Roost, and gets first pick of the hens. The young rooster had no sooner agreed than the elder rooster took off running. The non-plussed young rooster decided to allow the old guy his little cheat since he didn't expect any trouble catching up.
The elder rooster was still in the lead after the first lap but the younger one was catching up. The hens were making a terrific racket cheering on one rooster or the other depending on their preferences :-)
After the second lap the young rooster was right behind the elder rooster who was starting to puff a little, and the hens were going wild.
Just about that time the farmer came out with his shotgun and shot the young rooster dead in his tracks.
"Damn, that's the third gay rooster I've bought in the last two months"
